Hello there

Wonder if you can help me with a problem with my Carver SB 1800 I need to replace the very rust pipes as shown in your pictures.

Could you possably confirm the part numbers for both pipes req.

Lastly the front housing on my heater is looking a little shabby do you know if they are still available?

Great site hope to hear from you soon

5 gas joints have to be made if you aren't gas competent,I would take the van to a service centre.

It is best if you remove the heater from the van, It is easier in the long run.I will run through the process.

Tools you will need

  • Deep 8mm socket and long extension or An 8mm spanner
  • 19mm spanner
  • 14mm spanner
  • mole grips/pliers
  • air line
  • 2 5/8th spanners

Parts you will need,

  • Main feed pipe( Makers No. 602538)
  • Burner feed pipe (No.602516)
  • 5mm hook bolt (602252)
  • 5mm nuts
  • 5mm wing nuts

From underneath the van

  1. Undo 2 wingnuts holding the plastic flue cowl on, it is best to grab hold of them with a mole grip, they may snap off.Remove cowl
  2. Undo 2 8mm nuts, remove fly screen and air intake centring plate.
  3. Disconnect gas joint,If the main feed pipe has a bend on it, bend it towards the burner assembly, the heater will come out easier.

Inside the van

  1. Remove cover
  2. Remove the 4 nuts holding the base plate in. The rear 2 are hard to get at, use a deep 8mm socket and a long extension bar and reach over the top of the heater.
  3. lift heater out.

On the Bench

  1. Take off old pipes
  2. Remove burner assembly , keep hold of small burner mounting rubber seal.
  3. Clean jets using air line, don't poke anything down them. You can turn the jet pipe around so you can see the jets to make sure they are clean.(remember to turn back)
  4. Check for a spark to the burner.
  5. Replace hook bolts.
  6. Refit burner.
  7. Attach new pipes
  8. Refit burner mounting box
  9. Refit burner mounting rubber seal
  10. Repeat first 2 sections in reverse order.Insure the flue has correctly fitted into it's housing
  11. Insure gas soundness using a drop test or bubbly water.

Again, If you have no knowledge of fitting gas appliances please don't attempt this job!

I hope this helps,I have all parts instock if you need them.I might even have a clean front cover!
